Treasury interest rates are used for a variety of purposes. The 3 year, 5 year, 7 year and 10 year rates are used to determine the rate used for IRC Section 72(t) and IRC Section 72(q) Substantially Equal Periodic [SEPP] Plans. The 10 year rate is most often watched as an indicator of interest rates on fixed mortgage. The spread between the 30 day rate and the 10 year rate is frequently watched as the Treasury Yield Curve.
