Can 401k distributions limit sepp distributions

L1: Can 401k distributions limit sepp distributionsThis is a first time post. Great website, great user forum!
I feel like I have a good handle on the rules regarding 401k and IRA distributions, but I am wondering if I am age 55 and separated from service, would a distribution from my 401k limit the amount of my sepp distribution. I have a feeling this is not the case, because I see no reference in IRS Pub. 590 or any posting referring to such a situation.
Also, when using the RMD method to compute my sepp distribution, is this afixed amount or can I take something less. I understand a lower interest rate will reduce my sepp distribution using the amortization / annuitizaton methods, but was wondering if I can takean amount less than the RMD computed amount.2006-12-21 11:12, By: dlb, IP: [24.5.249.147]

L2: Can 401k distributions limit sepp distributions>>would a distribution from my 401k limit the amount of my sepp distribution.No. Not unless you include al assets (401(k) and IRA) in your SEPP Universe.
>>is this afixed amount or can I take something less.Fixed and no. Also remember, the distribution using teh MD method will change annually and probably increase each year.

L2: Can 401k distributions limit sepp distributionsI think you need to provide more information. Do you have a 401-k and a SEPP 72-T already ? If so, is the SEPP 72-T for your 401-k, or for your IRA ? How much is in each account?
Since you are separated from service and 55, I hope you didn”t make the mistake of setting up an unnecessary SEPP 72-T for your 401-k because you can make varying and unlimited distributions from your 401-k in your situation. Therefore, there should be no need to set up a SEPP 72-T to take additional FIXED amounts each year from your IRA for the next 5 years.2006-12-22 11:40, By: dlzallestaxes, IP: [4.175.9.245]
