Rollover 401K account with 72t to an IRA

L1: Rollover 401K account with 72t to an IRA
I have a 401k and receiving the annuity method equal distribution. I would like to know if I can rollover my 401K to an IRA and continue with the same 72t equal distribution without resultingin a 10% penalty. I have been receiving distributions for 4 years and I am 56 years old.
I would appreciate a responsefrom someone that knows the answer to this question.

L2: Rollover 401K account with 72t to an IRAHello Mary:
Short answer — yes.
Long answer — yes; just make sure you are rolling into a new, not an existing IRA.

P.S. I do know the answer; see above. It would not do you much good if I didn’t know the answer; now would it?

L2: Rollover 401K account with 72t to an IRAHi Mary:
Moving from one custodian to another, whether it’s K-plan to IRA or IRA to IRA, is definitely OK. But you have to watch closely and make sure everything gets done correctlyand that any errors or problems are resolved quickly. And of course you must document, document anddocument everything. May I suggest reading my response to the thread two down from yours where ‘drh’ asked a similar question. I listed several things to watch for in his situation and it will be similar for you. The only thing you should not have to face coming from a K-plan is the fees typically charged when making an IRA to IRA move. Good luck.
And Bill, I think Mary was hoping the plumber didn’t try to give her advice.
