L1: 72 tgreetings fellow 72t participants:i have (if market conditions improve) until the end of the year before i run out of funds in this program. went in at 58yrs old/have been in for 3 yrs. Have talked to tax attorneys/fund mgrs. who had limited knowledge and am therefore Very grateful for this web-site even though it substantiates what I now know to be true_i’m screwed! anyone think to start a class action law suite against the IRS? if so, where do I join?2002-06-24 11:35, By: justshootme, IP: [127.0.0.1]
L2: 72 tReview the letter that I just posted in the Articles section – write your Representatives.A class action suit against the IRS assumues that the IRS did something wrong. I don’t defend the IRS often, but everyone knew the rules up-front. The real problem is not with the rules, but with being too agressive with an investment strategy. The more conservative plans aren’t having any problems.2002-06-24 16:14, By: Gfw, IP: [127.0.0.1]

L2: 72 tI’m not sure about a class action suit, but we should all write letters to our senators and representatives asking for relief. (See other posting regarding recalculation.)2002-06-24 17:28, By: Russ, IP: [127.0.0.1]

L2: 72 tHello justshootme:No one can replace the assets lost over the last several years; however, they maybe hope in avoiding the penalties & interest; and the operative word is “may”. Some believe, and I am one of those, that in certain circumstances, the penalties and interest can be avoided by seeking a private letter ruling. If you are interested in pursuing this course fo action, drop me a note.RegardsTheBadgerwjstecker@wispertel.net2002-06-24 17:58, By: TheBadger, IP: [127.0.0.1]

L2: 72 tgfw…thank you for your response! you are absolutly right! should have known better however, what do they say about “hind sight”? felt i needed the “agressive” stock choices to maintain monthly % i was taking out over the 5yr period. who would have thought the market would take a nose dive/tragedy of 9/11? talked w/IRS and am willing to put money into the acct to keep it going until my “obligation” is full filled but they said “no way” and that makes me feel they are just out for the $ and i DO blame them for that. yeah, have written my congressman etc., not expecting any relief.p.s.only people i know who are “doing ok” are people who retired w/over 1 mil…2002-06-24 18:01, By: justshootme, IP: [127.0.0.1]
