Website Changes

L1: Website ChangesI am in the process of rebuilding the 72t.Net website. Most of the changes are structural and will result in better/faster performance. One of the enhancements is a new search function that will return more accurate results including the information in the articles section. The search in the discussion forum has also been revised, but as before only looks at information in the discussion area. When the new site does go live (we don””t have a date yet, but we are close), your existing bookmarks to the site, and to Discussion Forum, may no longer work. If you have a website, one of the things that we will be trying to add is a version of the Treasury Trends graph with daily updates that will be linkable for use on your site. L2: Website ChangesIt would be very helpful if the new website were revised to have numerous categories, and even sub-categories,of queries where similar responses were stored for future reference by new users, as well as regulars. Currently there are numerous postings about the same, or similar, topics. With 1,500 postings, it would be an impossible task for anyone to go thru them reverse chronoligically (working backward from today). Also, many “subject headers” give no clue as to what it’s really about. Untrained users do not realize the importance of the header.I savepostings in my e-mail system by category for future reference, and change the headers to aid in retrieval. It would probably help to have a link to Rev. Ruling 2002-62 and IRS Notice 89-25.2005-10-10 15:38, By: dlztaxes, IP: [4.175.9.39]

L2: Website ChangesThanks for the suggestions – there is always room for improvement.
The search function on the discussion forum should provide references to past posts. The new search function looks at both the message subject and the message body. We”ll see what we can do about adding dates to the search.
The new site (and the current site) contain the text of both IRC Notice 89-25 (Q/A #12)and Rev. Rul. 2002-62. In addition, the new site contains almost the full textof IRC Section 72.2005-10-10 15:48, By: Gfw, IP: [172.16.1.72]

L2: Website ChangesHi Gordon. Here”s a suggestion for the new and old site. Add a “Back to Top” button near the bottom of the individual message page. We get some pretty long strings to some of these original messages and it would be nice to quickly return to the top, which is where you have the “Post message to Forum” and “Return to List” buttons.
Second suggestion: The new site messages do not cover enough of the width of the page like the old site. Extend the width of the message and reply areas to cover closer to the left and right borders.
