Change date

L1: Change dateI started distributions on 5/15/98 based on the amortization method. I receive my distributions monthly. Can I change to the minimum distribution method for my 10/15/02 distribution or do I have to wait for my yearly anniversary?2002-10-05 13:46, By: Gary, IP: [127.0.0.1]
L2: Change dateWhile it wasn’t spelled out in the Rev. Rul. you should have no problem making the change for the 10/15 payment – just document everything including the initial and subsequent valuation dates. Question: Have you calculated what the new payment will be?2002-10-05 14:36, By: Gfw, IP: [127.0.0.1]

L2: Change dateMy age is 58. If I can use the valuation on 12/31/01 of 447,900 I would get about 1400/month. If I use the valuation on 9/30/02 of 294,300 I would only get about 900/month. Can I use the 12/31/01 valuation? 2002-10-05 16:10, By: Gary, IP: [127.0.0.1]

L2: Change dateIf you read the Rev. Rul, it appears that you can use either. Just remember, using this method, there is an annual recalculation – whatever date you choose, document it and any subsequest valuation dates.Just remember, the word “reasonable” was used 4 times in that short paragraph. Question: Is it reasonable to assume a value that isn’t there. Fortunately I don’t have to make that decision. 2002-10-05 17:16, By: gfw, IP: [127.0.0.1]
