Custodian Transfered too much

L1: Custodian Transfered too muchI set up my SEPP to start this January. I had my custodian do the calculation and start the automatic withdraw. I requested one annual distribution to be done on January 15th of each year. My custodian did the distribution and the calculated amount they came up with was $700 too low when I compared it to other calculators. So I asked them to check their calculations. They then adjusted their distribution by distributing another $720. So now they have distributed $20 too much. Am I correct in assuming that I have 90 days to get this corrected? btw, I did purchase Bill”s book and it was very helpful. I can at least approach my custodian and sound like I know what I”m talking about.2007-01-26 01:56, By: Mick, IP: [24.154.80.68]
L2: Custodian Transfered too muchIf the maximum interest rate was used, and you have taken too much, you have 60 days (not 90) to roll it back from the date of the respective distributions. However, since only one rollover is allowed per account, you need to get the correct amount resolved before doing the only rollover you are permitted for 12 months. While you cannot roll over a 72t distribution, an amount in excess of your correct amount is NOT a 72t distribution, so can be rolled back. Again, any figures should be double checked before any roll backs or further distributions are made.
If the max rate has not been applied, tweak the interest rate so that it generatesthe amount you have in hand, and preserve any rollover needs for the future.

L2: Custodian Transfered too muchThanks Alan, the interest rate I used was 5%, so it is less than the max. However, they did roll back the $20 yesterday. The distribution now matches the amount they spcecified in their letter. Thanks again.2007-01-27 04:40, By: Mick, IP: [24.154.80.68]
