72t

L1: 72tI am one of the many who would like to see the rules changed to allow at least one change in the amount deducted from rapidly shrinking retirement accounts. Would it be beneficial for individuals to write/email anyone to try to influence a change, and if so, who should one write? Please advise. Thanks!2002-09-15 22:46, By: Duey, IP: [127.0.0.1]
L2: 72tI recently contacted my local congressman, Rep. Mark Udall, and sent a letter to him outlining the problem we all seem to have. His office called me to say they are contacting the Treasury to request relief for us. I think it is important that others do the same thing. The more focus we can put on this issue, the faster we can get help. I would suggest you request specific relief of granting a one time change in the amount of the 72t withdrawal. Also request a response from your elected official, and be sure to point out that this is not just an isolated issue that impacts only you. I really think this is a large issue that many people who are impacted have not even realized it yet. 2002-09-16 14:20, By: Dan, IP: [127.0.0.1]

L2: 72tI totally agree with Dan’s post – write your representative. Please also feel free to refer him to our discussion area, the problem exists – when will it be solved? You can also reference an article in the Wall Stree Journal titled “Be Careful When Establishing A Plan for IRA Withdrawals”, published on July 28, 2002.2002-09-16 14:50, By: Gfw, IP: [127.0.0.1]
