1099 posted with a “G”

L1: 1099 posted with a “G”I have been following this forum for a while and have learned a ton from it. Now I have a question…

I received several 1009s for 2003 with Distribution Codes “1”, and “2” – which I think I understand (“1” – taxable, likely with 10% penalty), (“2” – taxable, part of SEPP withdrawal plan), but I also received a 1099 (large amount) with a “G” for a distribution code. I have no idea what the 1099 was for – and the amount doesn’t equal any accounts, etc. that I have.

Is there a simple explanation of Distribution Code “G” ??

Thank you.2004-02-13 10:32, By: Dave, IP: [65.96.139.169]

L2: 1099 posted with a “G”I’m no expert on 1099 coding, but two questions come to mind.
1. Have you confirmed that the 1099 is really for you and not someone else since you say you don’t recognize the amount or accounts?
2. What kind of 1099 is it? (R, INT, Misc, etc.)

L2: 1099 posted with a “G”A 1099R with a reason code of “G” is for a direct rollover (actually a trustee-to-trustee transfer) of plan assets to an IRA.
