Wrong 1099 Gross Distribution amount by $12

L1: Wrong 1099 Gross Distribution amount by $12Just received my 1099 andgross distribution amount listed on 1099 is $12 higher than it should have been (checked it against the last 2 years)
Think I know how screw up happened – back when funds were distributed, they had taken out wrong witholding amount (28% vs 15%)so I wanteda check for difference as well as them to reimburse me for $12 charge from my bank beacuse they wire transfered the funds vs regular deposit.
So somehow that 12 reimbursement is now reflected in gross amount
Do I need to worry about my 72t being busted for $12 difference
Do I need to pressure them to amend the 1099
or would a note to me admitting error suffice for IRSpurpsoes if my tax retuen is audited2007-01-19 10:51, By: Jacko, IP: [68.82.191.120]

L2: Wrong 1099 Gross Distribution amount by $12Yes, you do need to worry about the 1099R difference. Two possible solutions:
1) If you received any funds within the last 60 days, just roll $12 back into the IRA and report a rollover on your return. That will reduce the gross distribution to your proper amount.
2) If beyond 60 days, pressure the IRA custodian to revise the 1099R. They have some leeway on expense reimbursements not to consider them distributions or contributions while adding or deducting from the account, but there does not appear to be any consistency between institutions. Try anything you can to get them to revise the amount certainly including paying the $12 back to them.
If they knew this wasa SEPP, they should have known including the amount as a distribution would bust it. If you get by this one, don”t tempt fate again with these small adjustments. It”s not worth the risk.
