72T distribution

L1: 72T distribution I have been taking 72T distributions 11 years. I turned 59 1/2 in March, 2012 Do I have to take the distribution for the first 3 months of this year to avoid any penalties? I don’t know what method has been used for the distribution.2012-08-24 01:23, By: Jan, IP: [75.57.169.206]
L2: 72T distribution You don’t know the method OR if a distribution was taken? Not sure I understand that.
But,you didn’t have to take a distribution, although it’s a little late to be asking that question now that your plan has ended.
Before your plan ended in March, 2012 you had 3 options for the period from 1/1 to the day you reached 59.5:
1) Take nothing
2) Take 2/12 of your annual; taking 3/12 would probably also be acceptable
3) Take your full annual distribution
After your plan ended, you can do anything you wish. Distributions you take after reaching 59.5 should be reported on a separate 1099R coded 7.2012-08-24 02:04, By: Alan S, IP: [24.116.67.233]

L3: 72T distribution Thank you. I have been taking distributions for the last 11 years but I didn’t take anything in 2012for the first 3 months and I just wanted to make sure that was the correct decision.
Thank you2012-08-24 15:37, By: Jan, IP: [147.126.161.175]
