RMD

L1: RMD2003 is my final year in my5 yr IRAdistribution plan-retired early turn 60 6/30/03. My CPA states that I can make 1 time change for 2003 and change my distribution to RMD(IRA balances devided by joint survivor tables years remaining 37 or38) to determine the amount. I will only be required to follow thisfor 2003 and thengo to distributions as needed until 70 1/2. Does this sound correct?

L2: RMDHello Dean:
Your CPA is fundamentally correct. Further, you may use any of the three life expectancy tables. As an example, using the uniform life table, you would divide your 12/31/02 balance by 36.8 to get your 2003 distribution.
