New Rules-IRA Min. Req. Dist.

L1: New Rules-IRA Min. Req. Dist.In the FAQ Section I was confused by the answer to the question “Owner born 8/26/30. When is the RBD and what factor s/b used on the RBD”.

Ans. was RBD is 4/15/02 but Dist. Yr. is 2001. I understood answer to this point but the factor to be used as the divisor was shown as 25.3. The age of the individual in this example was 70&1/2 in the Dist. Yr. of 2001 so I would have thought the divisor should be 26.2. Is the divisor based upon the birthdate in the year of the RBD even though starting year of the RBD is based upon the year one reaches the age of 70&1/2 ? Seems to be a contradiction. 2001-07-21 10:51, By: bill, IP: [127.0.0.1]

L2: RE: New Rules-IRA Min. Req. Dist.Age is defined as your attained age in the distribution year. The individual was age 71 on 08/30/2001 (1930+71=2001) and the factor was therefor 25.3 2001-07-21 12:57, By: Gfw, IP: [127.0.0.1]
