Changing the distribution date on an SEPP

L1: Changing the distribution date on an SEPPI’d like to know if the exception (to the 10% early withdrawal penalty) would be lost (the SEPP “busted”) if I change the distribution date from the current 1st of the month to the 23rd of the month. It would mean I’d end up with 2 distributions within the month the change would be made. Example: I’d have received a distribution on the first of February, and then again on the 23rd of February to begin my new distribution date, would then not have the March 1st distribution and have it on March 23rd instead and on the 23rd every month thereafter for the rest of the duration of the SEPP. The instituition where my IRA is says that to avoid overdistributing the SEPP total distribution and not have 13 distributions in the year, they would not do the December distribution – the last one of they year. Does this simple change of the date of distribution cause me to lose my excetption status and end up paying the 10% penalty and interest ??2002-02-15 11:51, By: Cindy, IP: [127.0.0.1]
L2: RE: Changing the distribution date on an SEPPIf the plan calls for monthly distributions, just make sure that in any taxable year you take 12 distributions – not 11 and not 13. The exception to this would be in the first plan year where the payments commence during a taxable year – example: If the first payment were ade in November then in the first year you would take 2 monthly payments, one for Nov. and one for Dec.2002-02-24 06:09, By: Gfw, IP: [127.0.0.1]
