Life Exp. table

L1: Life Exp. tableThe company that develops my financial planning software is assuming you can only use the Uniform lifetime table to calculate the SEPP under the Min. Dist. method after 1/1/03. Your calculator uses the Annuity 2003 single life table. Which is the correct table to use? 2002-12-13 15:00, By: Cory, IP: [127.0.0.1]
L2: Life Exp. table
I”m starting to wish that I had a dollar for each time I have answered this question.
Revenue Ruling 2002-62 was published with the Annuity 2003 Annuity Mortality Table in Appendix B. This is the table of lx and qx factors.
Using the Annuity 2003 table, you can generate three sets of life expectancy factors thart can be used in a SEPP plan – the Uniform Table is one table of factors that assumes that the owners beneficiary is exactly 10 years younger. Now look to Section 2.02(a) of Rev.Rul. 2002-62

2.02 (a) Life expectancy tables. The life expectancy tables that can be used to determine distribution periods are: (1) the uniform lifetime table in Appendix A, or (2) the single life expectancy table in 1.401(a)(9)-9, Q&A-1 of the Income Tax Regulations or (3) the joint and last survivor table in 1.401(a)(9)-9, Q&A-3.
Surely you must have misunderstood, or I think I would get a new company to develop my software or plan or whatever they are doing for you. Please feel free to direct them to this site or to a copy of2002-62.Good luck!2002-12-13 16:01, By: Gfw, IP: [127.0.0.1]
