life expectancy

L1: life expectancyAre their rules regarding whether you can choose single life expectancy or joint life expectancy? Is it your choice? Other than one producing a higher payout than the other, are their any other implications?2002-02-05 23:11, By: Molly, IP: [127.0.0.1]
L2: RE: life expectancyThe choice (single or joint) is totally up to you. The only real difference is that the joint calculations will always produce a lower payment. If it were my plan and I wanted lower payments, I would divide the IRA into multiple accounts and use the account that produced the desired payment using the single life factors. The other IRA could then be held in reserve for emergencies or a subsequent 72(t) plan.Just my thoughts.2002-02-06 08:12, By: Gfw, IP: [127.0.0.1]
