Life Expectancy Tables

L1: Life Expectancy Tables I have read different things by different authors. Can the Joint and Survivor Table be used by someone with a beneficiary who is more than 10 years younger (even one of multiple beneficiaries) or is this table optional only for married couples whose sole beneficiary is the spouse who is more than 10 years younger?2004-01-14 10:34, By: Cindy, IP: [63.76.139.65]
L2: Life Expectancy Tables Hello Cindy:
With respect to early distributions (e.g. under age 59 1/2); all three tables — sinlge, J&S & Uniform are available to everyone. However, this begs the question, why would an account owner with a beneficiary who is 15 years younger use the J&S table? This can only lower the annual distribution in comparison to the single & uniform tables. If that”s the objective, the owner is much better served splitting the IRA into two or more IRAs and launching a SEPP program on the smaller IRA using the single table.
