May a 72t distribution be taken from a 401k?

L1: May a 72t distribution be taken from a 401k?Must a 401k be rolled into an IRA before initiating 72t distributions?
I’d sure like to keep thebalance in the 401k without a rollover; the fund expense fees in the 401k are much lower than those generally available.

L2: May a 72t distribution be taken from a 401k?A rollover isn’t necessary. With that said, check with your Plan Administrator – the plan may not allow it – keeps the expenses down. 2005-03-09 13:42, By: Gfw, IP: [172.16.1.71]

L2: May a 72t distribution be taken from a 401k?While it may be possible / allowable to make SEPP distributions from your K-plan, the benefits of “lower expenses” may be more than offset by benefits to you and your survivors by moving to and working from the IRA platform. For some really good information on this subject check out Ed Slott’s book, “The Retirement Savings Time Bomb … and How to Defuse It.” There’s a link from this web site to Ed’s site where you can order it. And while you’re at the front, don’t to forget to pick up TheBadger’s book specifically on 72(t) and other great things about this subject.
I’m referring you to these resources because the subject is too extensive to address on this board.
Good luck.
