showing calculations

L1: showing calculationsI”m just trying to figure out how to set up a 72t SEPP for an etrade 401k that is about $350,000. I plan on starting it later this summer. After reading what I can on this site I”m starting to think it is simple enough I can do it myself and hoping I don”t hit any ”gotchyas”. Question: When I make the distribution request to etrade the expect me to attach a sheet showing my calculations for the payment. Do they want the actual calculations or just the type of calculation: one of minimum distribution, ammortized, annuity? I think I can find the appropriate mid term rate and use the calculator I found here but not sure if I know how to actually perform the calculations!

L2: showing calculationsOnly eTrade can tell you what they want. However, if you start with the calculator on this site, enter your information and do the calculations – print the page and see if they will accept. Also take a look at the sampleform listed in the menu.
If you haven”t already, consider getting Bill”s book and doing some study before you begin.2007-12-12 13:49, By: Gfw, IP: [74.136.102.241]

L2: showing calculationsAnother possibility would be to download the 72t form from Vanguard”s web site. This form includes the forms necessary for each of the 3 standard SEPP calculations. You can download the whole form, print the sheet that interests you, and then use it to show your calculation. These forms will walk you through each of the steps needed to make the calculation. As mentioned above, you can also use the calculators on this web site to confirm your calculation. Doing that gave me confidence that I had in fact done the calculation correctly. The figures I got were different by about $0.50 for my annual distribution but I attributed that to rounding and differences in the number of decimal places used for the calculations.
