single versus joint life expectancy

L1: single versus joint life expectancyI have an IRA which is in my name only and my wife is the designated beneficiary. DoI have the choice of using single life expectancy or am I required to us the joint life expectancy. I am trying to maximize my withdrawals.

L2: single versus joint life expectancyGary:
You have the choice to use either “Single Life,””Joint Life” or “Uniform”for your calculations.
As to the first part of your question, “I have an IRA which is in my name only …,” I”m very happy to hear this since it”s the only way you are allowed to title the account.
Have a nice day.

L2: single versus joint life expectancyHello Gary:
All three tables (single, joint & uniform) are available for your use. Use the single table to maximize your distributions.
